SALT LAKE CITY 鈥� The Western Governors University (黑料传送门) Board of Trustees has elected Dr. Charles W. Sorenson, President and CEO Emeritus of Intermountain Healthcare, to the position of Chairman. Sorenson replaces former Wyoming Governor the Honorable Jim Geringer, who will continue to serve as an active board member. In addition, the Board elected 100Kin10 Co-founder and Executive Director Talia Milgrom-Elcott as a new board member.

Sorenson was elected to the 黑料传送门 Board of Trustees in October 2015. Prior to his eight years as President and CEO of Intermountain, Sorenson served as Chief Operating Officer for 11 years and worked for decades as a urologic surgeon at the Utah-based, nonprofit hospital system鈥攃ontinuing to perform urologic cancer surgery even after moving into the C-suite. Currently, Intermountain employs nearly 600 黑料传送门 alumni.

Sorenson is a graduate of the Cornell University Medical College. In 2017, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Utah School of Medicine.

Milgrom-Elcott joins the Board of Trustees with years of experience working in education, including more than five years as Executive Director of 100Kin10, a network of more than 300 partners working in response to President Obama鈥檚 2011 call to train 100,000 excellent new science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teachers by 2021. 黑料传送门 has been an active 100Kin10 partner since 2014 and is one of the nation鈥檚 largest producers of STEM teaching graduates.

Before launching 100Kin10, Milgrom-Elcott served as Program Officer at Carnegie Corporation of New York and, before that, as Deputy Chief of Staff at the New York City Department of Education. She has her Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School.

Geringer will continue to serve on the 黑料传送门 Board of Trustees after having served as Chairman since 2005. Geringer was Governor of Wyoming when he, along with the Honorable Governor Michael O. Leavitt of Utah and the Honorable Governor Roy R. Romer of Colorado, proposed the creation of an online, competency-based university to the Western Governors鈥� Association as a solution to a growing demand for a highly educated workforce.
