ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ Day at the Capitol in Austin, TX
February 4 — South Region
On February 4, ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ alumni, students, and faculty gathered at the Texas State Capitol in Austin for ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ Day at the Capitol. This impactful event provided attendees with the opportunity to meet Texas lawmakers, share personal stories, and advocate for the importance of ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ’s role in education. Participants began their day with a delicious breakfast featuring breakfast tacos, coffee, and juice at the Capitol Grill before engaging in an Advocacy 101 session. They then joined legislative visits to discuss the significance of the Texas Competency-Based Education Grant Program, established by House Bill 4005, and its vital impact on higher education.

This special event honored our local Hometown Heroes—teachers, healthcare workers, active-duty military, and veterans—who make a difference every day. We also celebrated a recent Distinguished Graduate Awardee. Attendees enjoyed complimentary skating, snacks, and warm drinks, while Hometown Heroes received special swag bags as a token of appreciation. On March 8, 2025, ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ celebrated its newest graduates at the Dallas Commencement Ceremony at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The keynote address was delivered by Anthony Robles, a 2011 NCAA Wrestling Champion and ESPY Award recipient, who shared his inspiring journey of perseverance and triumph. Graduate speakers Sandra Elizabeth Schneider and Emma Leah Bouza also took the stage to share their ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ experiences.
The celebration began the night before with an Alumni Celebration at Texas Live!, where graduates and guests enjoyed professional portraits, employer networking, and connections with fellow alumni.
