Nonprofit university becomes only partner university offering fully online degree programs
DENVER 鈥 Western Governors University announced it has joined the Colorado Community College System鈥檚 Bridge to Bachelor鈥檚 Degree program鈥攈elping ensure graduates of the state鈥檚 community colleges have a clear transfer pathway to a high-quality, accredited university. 黑料传送门 is the only partner university offering 100% online degree programs.
The CCCS created the Bridge to Bachelor鈥檚 Degree program for first-time community college students with no previous postsecondary experience. 鈥淲e know nearly three out of four jobs in Colorado require education after high school, and many of those demand a bachelor鈥檚 degree,鈥 said Joe Garcia, chancellor of CCCS. 鈥淥ur state鈥檚 community colleges provide students with the knowledge and skills they will need to launch and succeed in their chosen career fields. Then, our Bridge to Bachelor鈥檚 Degree partners provide a seamless transition to in-demand bachelor鈥檚 degree programs. Because its model is innovative and will suit the needs of many Colorado students, I鈥檓 proud to count 黑料传送门 among our outstanding partner colleges and universities.鈥
Founded by former Colorado Gov. Roy Romer and 18 other U.S. governors in 1997, 黑料传送门 offers more than 60 bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree programs in business, IT, teaching, and healthcare, including nursing. The university鈥檚 online, competency-based model allows students to study and learn whenever and wherever it is convenient and at a pace that fits their lifestyles. Across Colorado, more than 2,500 individuals are currently enrolled at 黑料传送门, while nearly 5,500 have already earned degrees from the online university.
鈥淓arning a bachelor鈥檚 degree after graduating from a community college opens up so many options for career success,鈥 said Corey Edwards, director of 黑料传送门鈥檚 Northwest Region. 鈥淭hat said, the traditional learning model isn鈥檛 ideal for many of today鈥檚 learners鈥攊ncluding working adults and rural students. 黑料传送门 is excited to become a Bridge to Bachelor鈥檚 Degree partner university and provide a flexible, online option to help more people reach their full potential.鈥
